Tiger Woods Play
Posted On 2010-06-01 , 12:50 PM
Last year Tiger Woods was victorious in what has to be considered one of the most thrilling non-major wins of his career. In a ridiculous final round, Woods hit every fairway (huh?!), chipped in for an eagle and hit it stiff on No. 18 for a tap-in birdie that wound up being the difference over runner-up Jim Furyk. That was a great moment in the world of golf.
Tiger's 65 had everyone practically handing him the U.S. Open title at Bethpage and there were thoughts of him running the table at the majors the rest of the way like he did during his historic 2000 season. But as we are all aware, the end of 2009 ended up being historic for other reasons, and after perhaps the worst two-tournament stretch of his life (a missed cut at the Wachovia and a withdrawal in the final round from the Players), Tiger will now tee it up at Muirfield Village without Hank Haney as his swing coach for the first time in more than six years. We shall see if Haney can do his magic on Woods.
In other words, be wary of Woods this week, despite the fact he's won Jack's event a record four times. Forced to make a prediction, my gut tells me to expect a top 10. But maybe that's just the ribs talking.)

TaylorMade Set to Release Rossa Corza Ghost Putter
Posted On 2010-05-17 , 2:55 PM
Putters come all shapes and sizes these days but most only come in two finishes, metalic or darkened. But TaylorMade is set to release one of the most eye-catching putters in recent memory ... and that's the whole point of the Rossa Corza Ghost.
The first thing that the golfer will see is that this putter is white, really white! It has three site lines and a hole in the back of the head.
The goal of the Rossa Corza Ghost is to make it the easiest putter to aim. The white is contrasted against the green grass makes it easy to see the three lines at the aim. And the leading edge of the Ghost is white it will be hard not to aim and strike the ball.
TaylorMade intends golfers to use the middle of the three alignment lines to go along the intended path. The outer two alignment lines are as wide as a golf ball, which can help players "bracket" the ball and trust their aim more.
The new TaylorMade Rossa Corza Ghost putter will be shown to PGA Tour pros starting next week in Charlotte, and should start appearing in pro shops starting in June for about $160.

Rory McIlroy's Victory
Posted On 2010-05-03 , 4:09 PM
Rory McIlroys win was superb play at the final round of the at the PGA's Quail Hollow Champship. McIlroy posted his final round of the tournament at62 to secure his victory at the tournament and left Phil Mickelson at second with a final round of 68, two behind the winner, with putter not working so well.
Playing alongside McIlroy yesterday was 24-year-old Anthony Kim, who was defending a title he won last year and looked less than enchanted to find himself bested by nine shots on the day. A proud young man, Kim will not forget such humiliation and will look forward to taking his revenge in the years ahead. There are also the likes of Camilo Villegas, who has a prolific work-rate and a champion's cussedness, and Martin Kaymer, a modern day Bernhard Langer.
In the States, the 21-year-old Ricky Fowler has looked hugely impressive in his first year on the PGA Tour, while the cognoscenti will point to the 17-year-old Italian Matteo Manassero, who turns professional this week and might be better than any of the above. In short, the future of golf has never looked more exciting. But in the rush to anoint the next generation, it would surely be a mistake to overlook the present.
