Golf Club Wedges, the lob wedge or the sand wedge? That is a question that is asked by all of us when we are close to the green. The wedge is really a very important club for us to carry in are bags. The wedge is being used by more of us then any time before in the game of golf! How much do you use your golf club wedges?

There seems to be less of the pitch and run for the golfer because the wedge leaves the ball nearer to the cup with better accuracy. There has been tests and analysis of 540 short-game shots, hit by golfers just like you and I, we can now know for certain we’ve pulled the right wedge. This exclusive test, is the first to provide a clear-cut guide to short-game club selection, and puts to rest the misconception that the only wedge a good player needs is a sand wedge. The testers played each shot with both golf club wedges and only once to simulate real-life playing conditions.

They found significant differences in the performance of each golf club wedges from different lies. What this means is that you can knock the ball closer to the hole simply by chosen the right wedge. The sand wedge is the pick for chip shots unless you have to carry a bunker or other obstacle. In that case loft of the lob wedge makes it easier to clear the danger and stop the ball quickly. The sand wedge is easier to control on delicate short shots. It has to do with the bounce angle. More bounce gives you more room for error in situations beyond sand shots. Opening the face makes your sand wedge play like a lob wedge, but with a touch of extra forgiveness due to the bounce. How it works: Bridgestone WC Design (stands for West Coast) wedges now come in three finishes: black nickel, satin or liquid copper. Heads are cast from 8620 mild carbon steel, for a soft sensation through impact. Each finish features the same CNC-milled clubface, milled U-grooves to maximize spin and "variable bounce" technology. This simply means that you get full bounce on a square setup. However, the bounce decreases when you close or lay open the face around the green. The biggest difference among the three finishes is that black nickel cuts glare more so than the others.
Golf club wedges with extra loft such as  the lob wedge makes it easier to get the ball up and out of the bunkers. To do the same with a sand wedge you have to open the face. But that raises the leading edge above the bottom of the ball and increases  the chance of bladeing the shot. You're better off blasting with a lob wedge.
